Government and Protective Services Practice Test

The main idea is that the executive government is responsible for developing policy to run public services and protect citizens. Creating policies to protect and serve the public is exactly what the government does to guide how laws are used and how programs are delivered. This is how the government sets priorities and proposes how public needs should be addressed.

The other statements describe activities that aren’t the government’s sole or correct role in relation to Parliament. Justice is administered by the judiciary, not the government presiding over it. Debating policy in sub-committees is a parliamentary process, not something the government does on its own. And drafting new laws typically happens through proposing bills in Parliament, not without Parliament’s involvement.
